BFA Rides & Past Events

BFA events have found great success in creating and raising awareness in an inclusive environment that can appeal to both the motorcycle enthusiast and those families living with Autism. With two successful rides across Canada and one down the West Coast of the USA, Bikers For Autism has built a strong following within the motorcycle and Autism communities in both countries. We are connecting with bikers and families from Australia to South Africa, and 43 other countries across the globe. Our community outreach and fundraising has included a BFA golf tournament, annual World Autism Awareness Day events, the Bikers For Autism Festival, and various other rides and fundraiser events.

Highlights from our past events include:

The Canada Ride

July - September 2012

Driven by a life-long dream of riding across the country on Harleys, Bikers For Autism set out on a 43-day mission to spread their message of awareness across Canada. Trev-Deeley Harley-Davidson in Vancouver hosted a farewell party, and later that afternoon the Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team escorted the BFA riders to the Trans-Canada highway, along with over 50 fellow bikers.

Various local bikers joined the BFA riders for a leg of the journey between the nine fundraising events including Calgary, Winnipeg, Fredericton, Toronto, Montreal, and St. John’s. The BFA Ride was featured in four radio station interviews, three TV newscasts, and seven newspapers (including an article on the 2nd page of the Toronto Sun). There was over $16,500 raised and as a result, our social media following on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter spiked exponentially.

Bikers For Autism Festival/ West Coast Ride to California

August 2013

The inaugural Bikers For Autism Festival was held and hosted by Barnes Harley-Davidson in Langley, BC. Our largest event to date was a family-friendly afternoon featuring a free concert with 99.3 The Fox presenting live music from Head of The Herd, a pig roast, food trucks, bike detailing, free tattoo parlor, laser-tag, face-painting, Star Wars costume group, a silent auction, and a skateboard demo by Coastal Riders, Red Dragon Apparel and Color Magazine. There was also wide variety of autism service providers including the Vancouver Canucks Autism Network, Osoyoos Autism Behavioural Centre, Music Heals Canada, ACT Community Training and Autism Speaks Canada. The afternoon was enjoyed by an estimated 500+ people and raised just under $10,000.

West Coast Ride to California

In August of 2013 following the BFA festival, BFA set off on a ride down the West Coast to California. Over 30 riders departed from the BFA Festival to the border, where eight riders continued on their epic journey. The Oregon Coast was as challenging as it was beautiful to ride. The two-week trip covered 3,500 miles and wrapped up with a fundraiser party at the renowned Deus Ex Machina in Venice Beach, California. There was a BBQ, live music, and even a few celebrity appearances. We received great support from the local motorcycle community. We shared our message of Autism awareness and we were proud to donate the proceeds generated south of the border back to the Los Angeles Autism community.

Sailor Jerry Long Haul

August 7-20 2014

This past August BFA teamed up with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum for a 15-day, 11-event ride from Vancouver to St John’s Newfoundland. The ride garnered some extremely positive attention from the Autism community and saw motorcycle enthusiasts joining the ride in nearly every major city in Canada. Thanks to the hard work of Canadian Brand Ambassador Arron Thomas and the Sailor Jerry team, We were able to reach a massive audience across the country with our message of awareness With live interviews on City TV Toronto and Global Halifax Breakfast Television that saw well over 3 million viewers combined. The Long Haul fundraiser events raised $11,000.00.
